Sorry, I forgot to Introduce Myself ;-)

My name is Emily- Earlie Davis, I am currently a stylist at a Ralph Lauren owned company in Chelsea, New York, where I currently live. I went to City Tech for Art& Advertising, in Brooklyn New York. And I wish to continue my studies at FIT in New York City.

I grew up in Harlem NY, and didn't always have the best clothing or prettiest hairstyles. But I always had my family. My sister Miranda, my dad Earle Davis, and my first teacher; my mother Celeste. My family had and still has a big impact on how I view the world, beauty (real beauty), and my natural creativity. My father is a artist, and musician, my mother was amazing. She was in the Army, later got deployed because of her pregnancy with me, and she has been my best friend ever since. There is actually a lot more to that story, but that will take hours to write about lol!

My fathers artistic backround has a great impact on me. He had me and my sister listening to Little Richie, The Teenagers, Sarah Vaughn, and watching the original Little Rascals, or Amos n' Andy shows. We knew nothing about the current music at the time except Sade' or Anita Baker. My father taught me how to draw, my mother taught me how to write, and there I began to cutomize my teachings.

Like I said earlier, I didn't have the nicest clothes, or fancy hairstyles. Me and Miranda were very dissapointed by this, making it our business to get jobs when we were old enough, and buy things we like. I was a bit ahead of the game, I knew from early on that looking pretty doesn't always have to be set in clothing, and my mother wasn't the best hairstylist. So I learned how to do my own hair, and make- up by the age of 10. I know it sounds strange but I would go through my moms cosmetic case and be fascinated by the colors and textures of paint you can apply to your face! It was like painting with dad, only painting myself beautiful lol!

So beauty came first, then vanity. I was a poor girl, but still wanted to have nice threads. Because when you have nice clothes, everybody likes you (or atleast its seems as though :-/ ). I would take my 100 dollars and run the town, buying a $20 pair of pretty aqua colored penny loafers from Buster Brown on 125th street, then I head down to my favorite Harlem boutique Regine's, and bought a simple white cotton shirt for $7.99, and jeans for $15. And with the rest of money I splurged on a wash and set, and junk food!

Even broke girls can be fly, and still be smart to have enough money to put in the bank. Thats what my blog is guided towards. I am a simple Harlem girl, with a tough, and trying, yet creative upbringing. I'm here to represent for the women out there who want more, and show those girls out there that they deserve more. We have to sustain ourselves with beauty, knowledge, and education.

So lets start our journey, better Earlie than never.
